Universal Aphorisms
Controlling Your Neural Codes
Every thought, every word, every deed, everything in a person’s life begins with a neural code or pathway. That code is actually a pathway in the brain formed by all of one’s experiences up to that moment in time. One sees an object: the brain instantly seeks all the information it has about that object and almost simultaneously presents the results to one’s consciousness. Everything new that is learned is constantly being compared to something the brain already knows.
The result of those comparisons is often that a new path or neural code may be forged, upon which future thoughts will be given a choice: 1. Follow the enormous and well trodden path-of-the-past, or 2. Forge a brand new path. In order to take that new direction against the enormous odds of an already established very healthy brain pathway, you’re going to need some help. That’s where affirmations or aphorisms come in. The process of repeatedly bringing a new idea to the mind makes a physical change in your brain.
The key to mastering any skill, be it piano playing, cooking, painting or football, is continual repetition. And with each repetition, the physical brain pathway becomes larger and tougher, and your capacity for change increases accordingly. Repetition of certain suggestions or commands is also called practice, self-hypnosis, exercise, prayer.
The aphorisms in this book refer to universal conditions found in every major religion or philosophy: Could there be a mistake in the Universe? Smiles are as big as the Universe – and as far reaching. Could anything that is part of the Universe be insignificant? The questions and suggestions in this book open our consciousness to a more cosmic relating.
