New Testament Axioms
The Heart of the Teachings
As wonderful as our memory can be for us, it often disappears when we are in states of distress. At these times we need to be reminded of our values. Remembering our convictions, so that we can act in a manner that is in accordance with our beliefs, is vital to our inner happiness.
The brain operates using all the knowledge it has accumulated to date. When new information is presented to the brain, signals travel along well worn pathways to produce new thought. The new thought is incorporated immediately and itself becomes a minute pathway which, in turn, will be used when more new information is admitted to the brain.
The pathways our experiences have already forged in our brain are ever present and will only be changed when new, or newly presented information stimulates our thinking. That is essentially what studying is: repeating information until it can be recalled.
The New Testament is the source of beautiful and inspiring advice on human associations that many of us have heard repeatedly in our lives, but not quite enough to make a difference in some of our most difficult relationships. Ask, and ye shall receive; Love your enemies, Judge not, that ye be not judged: timeless guidance and easily memorized.
